Watch Meghan Markle react to being called a 'fat lady'
The grace of a Duchess?

The Duchess of Sussex was in a very gracious mood as she attended events for both her own and the Duke's charities of choice on January 16.
Markle's royal patronages were recently announced to include the National Theatre, the Association of Commonwealth Universities, Smart Works, and Mayhew. Earlier this month, she visited Smart Works, an organization that relies on donations to help prepare unemployed women for successful interviews. When she was there, she revealed that her personal donation was once rejected by a woman she was helping. Markle can't seem to catch a break, as she received quite a strange comment on her next charitable visit to Mayhew as well.
Mayhew is an animal welfare charity that works to improve life for cats, dogs, and people in London. As a dog owner herself, the Duchess looked very excited to pay them a visit and pet the heads of some very adorable pups.
But before there was any puppy love, she greeted the organizers. One of them held her hands and told her, "Lovely lady, you are. May God always bless you," then smiled and said, "And you're a fat lady!"
The room erupted in squeals and Markle looked taken aback, but she laughed it off and said, "I'll take it!"
While strangers' comments on one's six-month-pregnant belly are not always welcome, the Duchess took it in stride, as she's probably very used to people commenting on her appearance since becoming royalty. The remark was, however, clearly meant as a compliment about her growing baby bump.
Markle has obviously embraced the bump, opting for form-hugging dresses like the dazzling, floor-length sequined dress she changed into to attend the glamorous premiere of Cirque du Soleil’s new show 'Totem,' which was being held to benefit the charity founded by Prince Harry, Sentebale. The charity supports young children in the African country of Lesotho.
