MOVIES Hocus pocus

Is it Halloween yet? Because Disney is might just be making our spooky dreams come true. Rumors and spells are circulating around the entertainment world because there may be a 'Hocus Pocus’ sequel—with a progressive twist.

The clue behind the witchy brew is that Disney has released a novelized version of the 1993 film, titled 'Hocus Pocus & the All-New Sequel.' The first half of the book is the re-telling of the original story, while the second picks up 25 years later.

The official synopsis for the novel reads, "Diving once more into the world of witches, this electrifying two-part young adult novel, released on the twenty-fifth anniversary of the 1993 film, marks a new era of Hocus Pocus. Fans will be spellbound by a fresh retelling of the original film, followed by the all-new sequel that continues the story with the next generation of Salem teens."

Light your magic cauldron and start chanting your spells because a 'Hocus Pocus' sequel may be coming to Disney in October of this year, and it may look a little different than the original. In the novel, the main characters who are discovering the secrets of the Sanderson sisters are two young girls, Poppy and Isabel, who may just find magic together as well.

With a racially diverse cast, an inclusive plot, and themes touching on misogyny and criminal justice, this 'Hocus Pocus' sequel might be the new Halloween movie to obsess over.
