In a fashion-backwards blow for the controversial rapper/fashion mogul, a much hyped up fashion launch in Sydney flopped and had to be cancelled after 45 minutes due to lack of customers. According to various sources, a sum total of zero people came through the doors of the Oxford Street, Sydney store.
West recently teamed up with activewear brand 2XU to produce a sportswear line 'YEEZY x 2XU'. The collection features (AUD)$550 neoprene leggings and (AUD)$500 bike shorts which have been heavily promoted by Kim Kardashian in her Instagram feed.
In the lead up to the 'grand opening' 2XU warned fans and customers to come early to the launch for fear of the sportswear selling out. However, after a 45-minute wait and excruciating lack of customers, the head office issued a statement: "There’s been a change of direction from head office and unfortunately the event has been cancelled."
It appears that Australia may not be ready for (AUD)$550 neoprene leggings, being sold as "Scuba tights." Or perhaps they are simply tired of Kanye West?
The outspoken and often heavily criticised star has recently maligned his core followers by continuing his vocal support of Donald Trump by wearing a red 'Make America Great Again'.
He also angered people by insinuating that 400 years of slavery felt like a 'choice' to him in a recent TMZ interview.
Either way, actions speak louder than words, and unfortunately for Yeezy, there was no action for him at his new fashion launch in Australia.
