Robbie Williams just can’t escape controversy. The Take That icon has caused many stirs over the years, thanks to his bold music and unapologetic persona. Some said he was an odd pick for the World Cup ceremony. Williams released a song called ‘Party Like a Russian’ in 2016, which included what many considered to be political lyrics and even a suggestive video. However, Robbie seemed to be a hit for the ceremony at Luzhniki Stadium in Moscow. He wowed the crowd and earned thunderous applause. However, some viewers spotted Robbie doing something only Robbie would do.

That’s right, Williams gave everyone the middle finger during the ceremony.
Williams left ‘Party Like a Russian’ out of his setlist. Instead, he performed hits like ‘Feel’, ‘Angels’ and ‘Let Me Entertain You’. Williams was joined by Brazilian footballer Ronaldo and Russian soprano Aida Garifullina for the ceremony.
