CELEBRITY Mariah Carey
Mariah Carey took to the American Music Awards stage to perform her new single 'With You,' for the first time on live TV. While her gorgeous ensemble and impressive choreography wowed audiences, many were quick to accuse the star of lip-syncing.
While online commentators are rarely kind with their celebrity opinions, Carey's performance reaped an overwhelming amount of backlash. One user took to Twitter to say, "Forced to watch the AMAS for work and I’m smh. Mariah Carey my baby...........you know we know you’re lip singing right?"
Another commentator pointed out that, "I'm a huge Mariah fan, but that was a very lazy performance with the dancers doing the work and effort. Lip syncing a new song will not help the sales of it. If she thinks this performance will get her to the top again, she's wrong."
A third Twitter user simply said, "jeez is Mariah Carey even trying with this bad lip sync? Yikes," according to Life and Style.
This was Mariah Carey's first American Music Award's performance in a decade. The star has yet to respond to the lip-syncing accusations.
