The rock goddess has been regarded as a figure of sex appeal for a large part of her career, but apparently, she never had a problem staying celibate for months at a time. 

Turner has recently released a new memoir titled 'My Love Story,' revealing intimate details about her less intimate years. One year in particular, before she met her current husband Erwin Bach, she recalls not having sex even once. 

The reason? “Don’t laugh, but I’ve always been a little nervous about starting a relationship with a new man because I didn’t know how my wig would be received,” she writes in an excerpt released by People. 

Tina Turner was afraid of how men would react when they saw her "bountiful hair and glamorous trimmings" come off, revealing the real Anna Mae Bullock beneath the locks. "What if he were disappointed by the real me?"

While that seems like a preposterous thought from such a talented woman, not having sex wasn't a big deal to her.

"I have never been a sex-driven person, it has never been a priority for me. After my first marriage I didn’t have many men in my life, sex was not important. I didn’t sleep around. I was celibate for a year at a time until I met Erwin," the 78-year-old explained to The Daily Mail.

Unfortunately, there is also a much darker reason for her disinclination towards sex, as she writes in her memoir that sex with her first husband, Ike Turner, was like "a kind of rape."

Luckily, she told The Daily Mail, meeting her new husband taught her what love, at first sight, feels like.
