Victory over Japan Day, or VJ-Day, is commemorated every year on August 15—the day on which Japan surrendered in World War II.
The Pacific Ocean theater of World War II saw many bloody and brutal battles take place on land and sea between Allied forces and the Empire of Japan. Over 70 years later, reminders still exist of that terrible time in history.
