TRAVEL Paris

For many, the chance to travel to Paris is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. The art, food, and architecture blend together to make an incredible vacation destination for people around the world. However, the city of lights may not be as light-hearted as you once thought.

Newsha Syeh, an Instagram model from Australia, took to social media to share an unfortunate experience she had at the Louvre Museum. Syeh explained that she was denied entrance to the public location because security deemed her outfit too inappropriate.

In a since-expired Instagram story, Syeh wrote, "Yesterday at the Louvre, I was stopped at the entrance by a guard for my outfit." She continued, "He made the most disgusted and horrible gestures and facial expressions, swore at me to cover up, with hate filled eyes stopped me entering."

"I was heartbroken, because I thought the Louvre enforced this archaic rule [sic]. Turns out it does not."

Syeh shared photos of the outfit she was wearing, writing, "An Australian witch in Paris."

While the Louvre does not have an official dress code, the museum says that being barefoot, wearing a bathing suit, or being naked does not comply with visitor regulations.
